Heart Bits Quilt - Another Baby Version

Okay, I know I’ve talked about Heart Bits before on the blog, but you guys, look at how much it pops with this fabric line!

As you may know, Heart Bits is a pattern that excels at showing off all kinds of prints, both letting small designs mesh together and bigger ones shine individually.

This time around, I used my dear friend Amber Johnson’s first fabric line with Poppie Cotton, Treasured Threads. It has the most delightful blend of rosy oranges, picnic yellows and all the wonderful teals I could ask for. With flowers decorating the colorful scenes, I felt like I was working with a sunny meadow; all warm and cheerful with that cartwheels-on-grass vibe.

Most impressively, I found the colors an unexpectedly perfect marriage; somehow both vivid and never attempting to compete with one another.

Now as a quick glance through my insta feed will no doubt reveal, I usually go with light backgrounds for my quilts, but this teal with tiny dots was just begging to enhance the central design. I may start to play with my backgrounds more!

Below is a close up of the tiny dots, sooo pretty!

Not that I would ever brag to you, but I would like to innocently point out the binding on this quilt, which I NAILED.

Not gonna lie, a scrappy binding like this takes a while to put together but tell me it isn’t worth it!!!

I also need to mention the perfect quilting my friend Kaitlyn did on this quilt. The small scale flowers, so simple and whimsical, add the perfect touch.

Check out the Treasured Threads fabric line because it was a delight to work with from start to finish. I think it’s a really versatile combination of prints that will make your project shine.

The Heart Bits pattern is available in my shop and comes with instructions for three different sizes (this is a baby size), directions for making your quilt either with sleek solids or messy scraps, and detailed graphics for every step.

Alright! That’s it for now.

Happy quilting!
